Jobs

Full Figures need help. We have alot going with a small staff.
We’re accepting inquiries from interested parties on the following volunteer positions:
Advertising salesperson (or people) – This place needs to make some money. While donations have helped immensely, we are still falling short of recouping a LARGE amount of personal funds that I have spent. We’re not complaining – Whomever sells ads needs to understand that intent, and also understand that we’ll be very selective as to what sort of products are advertised on the site. I have a whole stack of advertising inquiries to hand the person who wants to do this, and there will be commission involved.
Moderator(s) - We need forum moderators to post topics in specific forums and enforce site rules. Must be very active and on the site daily!
Chat Hosts/Hostesses - Simple. Pick a 2-hour block of time for one evening you specify, and stay in the chat room. Post to the board to invite people, bring them in on your IM, greet and talk to folks who wander in…even promote regular chats with themes, however you see fit.
Link Farmer – Not a ‘link farmer’ in the traditional foofy spammery way. Figures is getting its own links directory system with the new upgrade. The Link Farmer (or link manager, if you prefer) will add appropriate links, approve user-submitted links and contact other sites to offer trading links. We have some pretty stringent criteria about which links go in this directory…you’ll work closely with the rest of the staff on ideas for categories and inclusions.
Newsletter writer – You will pull events from the calendar and statistics, topics of interest from the board and compile the newsletter once or twice a month. You need to have a great grasp of language and be serious ’bout this task…there’ll be deadlines. Not like boss-deadlines; but I have personally been lousy about getting the newsletter out on time and I’d love to have someone who can really devote themselves to this.
Event planner/coordinator- Unfortunately due to personal reasons Kevshine is now longer able to do event planning. So now we are in need one or 2 people who could feel this spot. You must be able to attend all events YOU plan. You must be confident enough to contacts different venues and etc. This may include a lot of research and some phone contacting and a lot of enthusiasm and friendliness.
Event promoter – This is probably the most time-consuming of all the jobs we need help with. Posting invitations, newsletters and event schedules all over the web and submitting press releases to media outlets. This probably ought to be a coordinated team of two to three people. I have a long list of resources to pass around for folks to post events to.
MySpace Addicts – Someone who loves MySpace and would like to every few days add bbws bbw lovers to our friends list and maintain the profile. Also post our events and website news on our page, in myspace groups, and in bulletin.
BlackPlanet Addicts – Someone who loves BP and would like to every few days add bbws bbw lovers to our friends list and maintain the profile. Also post our events and website news on our page, in BP groups, and in bulletin.
News submitter – We’d like to have someone that does fat-folks specific news searches on the web and posts stories in appropriate forums about issues that affect us as a community. Be interested and web-savvy and able to post daily.
Each position will come with a Figures email address (you@fullfigures.com) for you to use, a “Figures Staff” member title, and a figures tshirt, discount on events, an invitation to a private forum where the entire staff will discuss progress and share ideas.
Before you raise your hand and say “Ooooh, me, me!!” you need to know some things. We want people who are in it for the long haul – from the start. This is fun – but it IS work. Upwardly thinking individuals who have the furthering of the group and the organization of events on their high-priority list are what we’re after.
Please recognize your own strengths and weaknesses – if you are a control freak, do not volunteer as a moderator. If you can’t spell, don’t jump up as a newsletter writer. If you’re shy, stay away from planner/coordinator duties. Don’t get your feelings hurt if we say ‘Um, maybe you ought to do this instead…’
For anyone who has the time and sincerely wants to help, we can happily find a way for you to be involved. Please email us with the position you’re interested in and why you think you’d be good at it.
Thanks guys!
